RUAHINE PRINT

Ruahine is the respected elder wāhine within te ao Māori, embodying wisdom, spiritual authority, and deep lived experience. She is often understood as a wāhine tohunga, a woman entrusted with sacred knowledge, guidance, and responsibility within her community.

She is not defined by age alone, but by her mana, integrity, and the depth of her embodied understanding.

Through her, wisdom becomes something lived, not simply learned.

Ruahine represents feminine wisdom, spiritual leadership, protection, healing, intuition, balance, and embodied knowledge.

She carries the understanding that true knowledge is formed through experience, reflection, responsibility, and time.

Within Māori tradition, a Ruahine is an elder wāhine who holds significant roles within tikanga, whakapapa, wairua, healing, and ceremonial life. She may also be a wāhine tohunga, entrusted with sacred responsibilities such as karakia, childbirth support, spiritual cleansing, lunar knowledge, and guidance for her people.

She is a bridge between realms of understanding, physical and spiritual, ancestral and present, practical and ceremonial, moving between them with balance and discernment.

Historically, wāhine held vital leadership and spiritual roles within Māori society. While many of these roles were disrupted through colonisation, mātauranga Māori continues to uphold feminine wisdom as essential, sacred, and deeply respected.

Through her, we are reminded that wisdom is not something acquired quickly, but something cultivated, embodied and lived.

We use Fine art smooth paper 260gsm which is a heavyweight matt coated paper with a neutral white shade.

SHIPPING

All prints are made to order. Please allow 5–7 business days for production, in addition to shipping time. Orders containing multiple items may be fulfilled and shipped separately, so they may arrive at different times. Separate shipping charges will apply for each product type.

RETURNS

As each print is made to order, we do not accept returns or exchanges for change of mind. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order and we will work with you to resolve the issue.
