HINETĪTAMA TRANSITION PRINT

Hine-tītama is the atua wāhine associated with dawn, awakening, and transformation in Māori cosmology. Beyond her connection to first light, she also embodies the sacred process of inner change, where identity, perception, and consciousness evolve through experience.

She represents the threshold between who we were and who we are becoming, where truth reshapes understanding and life shifts into deeper awareness.

Through her, transformation is understood as both sacred and inevitable.

Hine-tītama also represents transition, transformation, emotional depth, identity shifts, feminine evolution, and rebirth through awareness.

She is the living expression of becoming, where change unfolds through lived experience and inner revelation.

In Māori tradition, Hine-tītama is born of Tāne Mahuta (god of forest) and Hineahuone (first woman) and is known as the Dawn Maiden. Her story is often understood as a powerful metaphor for awakening, where truth changes perception and initiates deep inner transformation.

In this form, she experiences a profound shift in identity after learning deeper truths about her origins. She later becomes Tane's partner, unaware of their true relationship at first. She discovers the truth of her origins, that Tāne, her partner, is also her father.

This revelation becomes a profound moment of awakening. It is not just a personal shock, but a deep spiritual rupture where identity, relationship, and reality are suddenly seen in a new light.

In that moment, she experiences a full inner transformation. Rather than remaining in the world of Te Ao Mārama in the same way, she chooses to descend into Te Pō (the realm of night).

This transition marks her becoming Hine-nui-te-pō, the great mother of night and guardian of Rarohenga (underworld and the life beyond.)

This moment marks a transition from innocence into awareness, reflecting the human experience of emotional and spiritual awakening.

Through her, we are reminded that even when change feels confronting, it often becomes the foundation of clarity, wisdom, and emotional maturity.

All prints are made to order. Please allow 5–7 business days for production, in addition to shipping time. Orders containing multiple items may be fulfilled and shipped separately, so they may arrive at different times. Separate shipping charges will apply for each product type.

RETURNS

As each print is made to order, we do not accept returns or exchanges for change of mind. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order and we will work with you to resolve the issue.
