MATAKITE PRINT

Matakite are those within te ao Māori who are gifted with heightened spiritual perception, the ability to see, sense, and understand beyond the physical world.

They are seers and visionaries who receive insight through dreams, symbols, intuition, ancestral connection, and energetic knowing.

They move between the seen and unseen, mostly working within Te Kore - perceiving layers of reality that exist beyond ordinary awareness.

Through them, vision becomes a form of deep listening to wairua.

Matakite represents intuition, foresight, energetic sensitivity, insight, pattern recognition, and expanded awareness.

It is the embodiment of understanding that reality is made up of both seen and unseen dimensions, existing together in relationship rather than separation.

Within Māori understanding, Matakite are individuals who receive and interpret messages from beyond the physical world.

These insights may arrive through moemoeā (dreams), tohu (signs in nature), bodily knowing, visions, symbolic imagery, or ancestral communication.

In traditional contexts, Matakite were often called upon to provide guidance for individuals, whānau, or communities during times of uncertainty or transition.

Their role was not based on performance or ego, but on responsibility, carrying insight with care, humility, and respect for wairua.

The word itself carries layered meaning:

Mata — eyes, vision, perception, face

Kite — to see, recognise, understand

We are taught that true sight is not limited to the eyes, but arises through the whole being, through intuition, feeling, inner knowing, and spiritual awareness.

We are reminded that meaning is always layered, and that there is always more beneath what is visible on the surface.

We use Fine art smooth paper 260gsm which is a heavyweight matt coated paper with a neutral white shade.

Please note the Frame is not included.

SHIPPING

All prints are made to order. Please allow 5–7 business days for production, in addition to shipping time. Orders containing multiple items may be fulfilled and shipped separately, so they may arrive at different times. Separate shipping charges will apply for each product type.

RETURNS

As each print is made to order, we do not accept returns or exchanges for change of mind. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order and we will work with you to resolve the issue.
