Hine-nui-te-pō is the atua wāhine of deep transformation, endings, and rebirth within Māori cosmology. She represents the sacred threshold where one form dissolves so another may emerge.

She is the embodiment of metamorphosis, the profound process of change where identity, consciousness, and self-understanding are completely reshaped through experience.

Through her, we understand that endings are not final, but part of a continuous cycle of renewal and becoming.

Hine-nui-te-pō represents metamorphosis, transformation, endings and beginnings, ego dissolution, shadow integration, feminine initiation, release of identity, and rebirth through change.

She is the deep inner process where what we once were can no longer remain, and something more authentic begins to take form.

Hine-nui-te-pō is known through the story of Hine-tītama, who, upon a moment of deep revelation, undergoes a powerful shift in identity and becomes Hine-nui-te-pō.

This transformation reflects a universal truth, that awakening can dismantle what we once knew, creating space for a new way of being to emerge.

Rather than remaining fixed in one form, she becomes the living expression of change itself, showing that identity is not permanent, but always evolving.

Through this shift, she embodies the reality that rebirth is possible after even the deepest forms of inner change.

She teaches that growth often requires the release of old identities, beliefs, and versions of self so that deeper truth can emerge.

Within her presence, darkness is not emptiness, but the fertile space where transformation takes shape.

We use Fine art smooth paper 260gsm which is a heavyweight matt coated paper with a neutral white shade.

All prints are made to order. Please allow 5–7 business days for production, in addition to shipping time. Orders containing multiple items may be fulfilled and shipped separately, so they may arrive at different times. Separate shipping charges will apply for each product type.

RETURNS

As each print is made to order, we do not accept returns or exchanges for change of mind. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order and we will work with you to resolve the issue.
